First Draft Detroit News – July 7, 2025

Hello Drafters!

How are your Summer Frenzy projects going? I know some people are revising, some are plotting for November, some are just writing something new. I hope you’re feeling productive, whatever you’re working on!

New News!

This weekend is the Midway Midway! It’s a classic Midway-style event with lots of sprints and an auction, but this time it’s happening at the Dovetail, with all their delicious food and drink options! (Have you tried one of their milkshakes? You really, really should, and add an espresso shot!)

Our Midway Midway will have that Suddenly Auction that I’ve mentioned repeatedly—if you’ve made up an item for it, you can turn it in to any member of Da Board at any of the scribbles leading up to it. If you won’t have it done until Saturday itself, please let us know at one of the Scribbles so we know to expect it! Remember that the item must be dinosaur-themed to qualify!

We’ll have sprints! The auction! Camaraderie and commiseration! And hopefully for all of you, lots of words and/or creative endeavor progress! Owner Mike has agreed to host us for this event, so if you can spare a few bucks, we’d really appreciate if you could patronize the business as a thank you.

On the Horizon

We have our second annual TTRPG Fundraiser event coming up at Gatekeeper Games in Berkley on September 27. I’ll have more information in newsletters leading up to the event, so keep your eyes peeled!
