First Draft Detroit News – September 21, 2026

Hello Drafters!

Game Day was a blast! We all had a lot of fun and saw so many cool pirate costumes, and Eternal Games was a wonderful host for us. We can’t wait for next year!

Game Day Fundraiser Results

Our third annual Game Day Fundraiser went swimmingly! We had a total of 32 participants which was our highest number ever! We had an amazing turnout including plenty of noobs we hadn’t seen before. In total, between game registration, potluck donations, and silent auction results, we raised a whopping $1,443!

This is critical because First Draft Detroit runs purely via donations from Drafters Like You™️and without your support we wouldn’t be able to do any of the things we do. That money raised goes to things like the button parts for making yearly event buttons, printing the posters and mini prints for the team challenge, paying for event spaces (and covering things like Boot Camp Pizza) and paying for our insurance. The money we raise goes right back into making these events — First Draft Frenzy in November, the Summer Mini-Frenzy in July, maybe even others as we continue to grow! — the best we can make them. It goes to supporting you, our community and friends, on your creative journeys. It goes to keeping the spirit of joy and inspiration alive and well in the Metro Detroit region and online.

You all are the reason we do this as well as the reason we can do this. Your support is appreciated beyond words.

Coming up next: First Draft Frenzy

This November is our third annual First Draft Frenzy! I’m going to send out another email in a couple of weeks at the beginning of October with full details and the schedule for kickoff, so keep your eyes peeled!

Scribbles

Scribbles are our more low-key creative get-togethers. We have 5 every month (except December please we just want to sleep)!

• First and Third Wednesdays: Dessert Oasis (Ferndale) with Chesnaye, 4:30 to 7:30 PM
• Every Thursday: Panera Bread (Taylor) with Raine, 5:30 to 7:30 PM
• Second Thursdays: Road Less Traveled Books (Farmington) with Erin, 4:30 to 6:30 PM
• Final Friday: The Fern (Ferndale) with Owen, 5 PM to 7 PM

If you want to host a scribble then feel free to let one of us know! You can absolutely host an online-only one, or you can host an in-person one. Be the scribble you want to see in the world!

As a reminder, we are a 501c3 nonprofit, which means any donations you make to us are tax-deductible! We have several avenues available for you to donate to, if you’re interested:

If you desire the shiny gold donor role in our Discord sever, do any of the above (including signing up for Kroger Community Rewards) and let one of Da Board know! (Remember the NaNo halos? This is our version! It turns your name gold and everything.)
