First Draft Detroit News – December 1, 2025

Hello Drafters!

You did it! You survived November! Take a big, deep breath for us and shake off all that writing-related tension. You accomplished so much! Even if you only wrote for one day, or if you did only a handful of tasks, it is more than you had on October 31, and that in itself is a victory. We’re so proud of you!

First Draft Frenzy Wrap-Up and Survey Request

Our second annual First Draft Frenzy was a success! We had over sixty writers sign up for our Team Championship. So many words were written, and so many great times were had at our various Scribbles and Big Events!

What about the results of that Team Championship?

It’s a secret! We traditionally do not share the results of the Team Championship until TGIO. We’ll share the results publicly in our Discord, on the website, and via another newsletter I will send next Monday. Until then, you’ll just have to be patient!

Thank Goodness It’s Over (TGIO)

Thank Goodness It’s Over is our annual collective cry of relief. This year it is being hosted at the Farmington Community Library’s Downtown Farmington branch. This is the branch that is located at Farmington Road and Grand River Avenue. We will be in the community room in the basement! There is an elevator available at the East entrance (facing the parking lot), and parking in Downtown Farmington is free!

Important TGIO Details

This is NOT at the Main branch of FCL (that one is on 12 Mile. Don’t go to that one. You will be lonely and sad).

Farmington is also hosting a city-wide event on December 6 called Jolly Days. This means that parking within Downtown Farmington may be sparse. There are residential streets around the library that can also support parking. Please do not block fire hydrants or driveways!

Scribbles

Sadly, it is time to go back to our regular Scribble schedule. (Audience aww noises.) PLEASE NOTE, for December the only one I know for sure is still happening is mine at Road Less Traveled Books! (And rumor is that Erin is also kicking around the idea of a weekend Scribble in the new year… stay tuned!)

• First and Third Wednesdays: Dessert Oasis (Ferndale) with Chesnaye, 4:30 to 7:30 PM CANCELED FOR DECEMBER
• Second Thursday: Road Less Traveled Books (Farmington) with Erin, 4:30 to 6:30 PM
• Final Friday: The Office Coffee Shop (Royal Oak) with Owen, 5 PM to 8 PM CANCELED FOR DECEMBER
