Second Annual Game Day Fundraiser

Are you pre-registered? It’s this weekend, Saturday September 27 at Gate Keeper Games in Berkley (3961 12 Mile Rd, Berkley, MI 48072)! The event itself runs from 1-5 PM, though the store opens at noon. If you want to show up around 12:15 and do some light shopping, we won’t mind (and neither will the store). We’ve got games galore (nine! count ‘em, nine! tabletop games, along with board game island) and plenty of fun and friends. We’re also going to have snacks available, including fresh-baked goodies by Erika. (She is a baker by profession. You will want some of these.)

Gate Keeper Games also has a bar on premises, and we ask that you imbibe responsibly if you choose to partake. First Draft Detroit is not responsible for adverse events that may occur as a result.

Upcoming Events!

First Draft Frenzy is on its way! This is our biggest event of the year: a thirty-day marathon to create something new–writing, art, crafts, whatever calls to you! The festivities begin with a double-header of celebrations on October 18.

Kick-Off is at the Ferndale District Library, 222 E. 9 Mile Rd, Ferndale, 48220 from 1-3 PM. This is not a potluck. Food is no longer allowed at the library (sad noises). Parking is also paid. This is not something the library controls. Please do not leave poor reviews for the library regarding parking. This is controlled by the City of Ferndale.

We’ll have fun activities, the ability to meet the board, and all the information you need to make your November the best it can be!

Almost immediately following Kick-Off is our Meet and Greet Ice Cream Social at Treat Dreams (22965 Woodward Ave, Ferndale, 48220) from 3:30 to 5:30 PM. This is a great way to chat with people you haven’t seen in a while, discuss your ideas for plots further, and also eat some tasty ice cream. They always have a whole bunch of interesting flavors, and you can sample their options! (Will I get something that ISN’T salted butterscotch, which is the flavor I seem to get every year? Only time will tell!)

Our first November event falls on November 1st: Frontloading First Weekend is once again being hosted for us at The Dovetail (29200 Hoover Ave, Warren, 48093) from 4-10 PM. Come see the quirky art and sample the delicious drinks. (They have an amazing milkshake you can add espresso to, if you do not want to sleep that night.) This is a great way to get a bunch of words in on the first day!

As always, we’ve got our regularly scheduled Scribbles available for your writing and creative needs:

First and Third Wednesdays at Dessert Oasis (927 Hilton Rd, Ferndale) from 4:30 to 7:30 PM
Second Thursday at Road Less Traveled Books (33300 Thomas St, Farmington) from 4:30 to 6:30 PM
Final Friday at The Office (402 S Lafayette Ave, Royal Oak) from 5:00 to 8:00 PM

In November we’re going to have plenty more of these, so stay tuned!
