First Draft Detroit News – September 8, 2025

Hello Drafters!

Did you have a good rest of your summer? The weather was beautiful to wrap up the unofficial summer season, and now we have more fun things to look forward to!

It’s Coming…

The Game Day fundraiser is coming up at the end of the month! We have the GMs! We have the games ready! All we’re missing is you!

We’ve got Rebels of the Outlaw Wastes, Monster of the Week, Pig at a Wedding, Never Stop Making Magic (a Kids on Brooms variant), Call of Cthulhu, Jim Jenson’s Labyrinth: The Adventure Game, D&D 5E (three options, one featuring the 2014 rules), and board game island for those who aren’t quite as inclined toward the clicky math rocks.

Board Game Fundraiser Day!

It’s coming up! September 27! Gate Keeper Games in Berkley (3961 12 Mile Rd, Berkley, MI 48072)! 1-5 PM, though you can show up as early as 12:15 if you want (store opens at noon)! We’ll have a silent auction! We’ll also have a bake sale! There’s a bar there, too! Oh boy!

We are asking for a donation of at least $10 to pre-register for this event. If you can swing more, we’ll love you forever and ever and ever, of course, but it’s not required. The bake sale is pay-what-you-want, and again: we’ll love you forever if you deign to drop an extra buck or two in the bucket.

As always, we’ve got our regularly scheduled Scribbles available for your writing and creative needs:

First and Third Wednesdays at Dessert Oasis (927 Hilton Rd, Ferndale) from 4:30 to 7:30 PM
Second Thursday at Road Less Traveled Books (33300 Thomas St, Farmington) from 4:30 to 6:30 PM
Final Friday at The Office (402 S Lafayette Ave, Royal Oak) from 5:00 to 8:00 PM
