Hello Drafters!

First of all, we want to say Happy Memorial Day, and we dutifully remember all the friends, family, and loved ones of Drafters who gave their lives in service to their country. Their sacrifice will not be forgotten.

New News!

Remember that Exciting News(!!) that I mentioned last newsletter? Here it is: This summer we’re hosting a Summer Frenzy! It’s going to be two weeks of fun and writing, with both online and in-person Scribbles leading up to a Midway Midway Madness complete with a silent auction!

IMPORTANT FOR THE SILENT AUCTION: It’s going to be a Suddenly Auction. Suddenly is our mascot, classically rendered as a long-necked dino but can be any dino they want to be. We’re asking for donations of handmade dino-themed items to be auctioned off for the non-profit at this event. Find the specific details here: Suddenly Auction – First Draft Detroit.

We’re also having another super-duper cool TTRPG fundraiser this year! Oh boy! You can find details for both of these events below.

Upcoming Events!

SUMMER FRENZY: Kickoff will be at Starr Jaycee Park, located at 1321 W 13 Mile Rd, Royal Oak, MI 48073 on June 28, 2025. We’ll be set up at the Small West Pavilion. Festivities will begin at 10:30 AM and will go to 1:30 PM! This is going to be a cookout type situation, so if you want to bring food and munchies feel free!

We don’t have anything in stone yet for Scribbles but expect both online and in-person. Remember, YOU can be the Scribble you want to see in the world! If you want to host one in your neck of the woods during the Summer Frenzy, please let a member of Da Board know (or just reply to this email!) and we’ll make sure you end up on the calendar!

The Midway Midway Madness will be on July 12, but the time and location are still TBD. We’ll make sure you’re all updated once we’ve got that detail ironed out!

TTRPG FUNDRAISER: On September 27, 2025, meet with us at Gate Keeper Games, located at 3961 12 Mile Rd, Berkley, MI 48072 from 12-6 pm (gametime running from 1-5 PM). Do you have a tabletop roleplaying game you want to run? Why don’t you reply to this email and let Erika know? Otherwise, you can just put it on your calendar and come to enjoy some fun games! We’ll have a silent auction here, too. Last year we had a super cool set of liquid-core dice to bid on, and even a Rad Sword™! What will there be this year? It’s a mystery!

As always, we have our monthly Scribbles:

• First and Third Wednesdays, at Dessert Oasis in Ferndale (927 Hilton Rd, Ferndale, MI 48220) from 4:30 to 7:30 PM
• Second Thursday, at Road Less Traveled Books in Farmington (33300 Thomas St, Farmington, MI 48336) from 4:30 to 6:30 PM
• Final Friday, at The Office in Royal Oak (402 S Lafayette Ave, Royal Oak, MI 48067) from 5:00 to 8:00 PM

And announcing a new addition hosted by a local Drafter, Hannah!
First Sunday Tea and Scrawl at The Boston Tea Room, Onyx Room (1220 Woodward Heights, Ferndale, MI 48220) from 12:30 to 2:30 PM on the first Sunday of each month. Bring a notebook, get some tea, write a little something to a prompt given (if desired), and shove that inner editor into a little box as you read your work aloud to the group.
